At 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 13, 2017, Professor Nicole Hassoun gave a public lecture titled "Individual Responsibility for Promoting Global Health: The Case for a New Kind of Socially Conscious Consumption". The talk was hosted hosted in Carbone  Auditorium on Utica College's campus at 1600 Burrstone Rd., Utica, NY.

Professor Hassoun discussed the problems of global health and suggest that one way of addressing these problems is to use a new rating system for pharmaceutical companies’ medicines’ impact on global health (global-health-impact.org). She suggested that consumers have obligations to purchase products from companies that positively contribute to the global health of the millions of individuals suffering and dying young from diseases like tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, and malaria.
